Types of groups

The Questra IDM Application Suite has two types of groups: static groups and dynamic groups. The distinction between these two types of groups is important mainly to those administrators who set up the groups in the first place.

• A static group (shown as a yellow folder in the Groups panel of the Navigation pane) is simply one to which devices have been manually assigned by the administrator.

• A dynamic group (shown as a green folder ) is one to which devices have been assigned automatically based on some common characteristic, such as device type or configuration. As far as most users are concerned, static and dynamic groups behave identically.
