Questra SoftwareDirector - An Overview

With the Questra SoftwareDirector™ application, you can track and manage the software installed on the devices belonging to the groups you own. You use it to view the actual configurations of devices, as well as to distribute packages of software updates to them.

Software packages, created by administrators, typically consist of one or more software components, such as programs and files, as well as the programs and scripts for installing them. When you are informed that a software package is available for your devices, you use the application to distribute it to them.

As you manage software on devices, keep in mind two dates that you will set for each software package you distribute.

• Reminder date – When this date arrives, if a software package has not yet been installed on a given device, an alarm regarding that device will be raised and you will receive an email alert notification. You should then remind the on-site device administrator that the software package needs to be installed no later than the Install-by date (below).

• Install-by date – When this date arrives, if a software package still has not been installed, another alarm regarding the device will be raised and you will receive another email alert notification.* Follow your company's procedures for alerting the on-site device administrator that the software package must be installed immediately.

The Questra SoftwareDirector tasks you will use are located on the Action pane's Service panel under SoftwareDirector.
