Use the Edit Alert dialog to edit an alert's details (name, description, etc.) and, if the alert is of the Email alert type, the email message that is used to notify those users responsible for handling the alert.
Details tab
Name |
Type the name of the alert (up to 32 characters). This name must be unique. |
Description |
Type a description of the alert (up to 200 characters). |
Type |
Select the type of alert, such as Email Alert. |
Number of retries |
Type the number of retries to attempt to send this alert before failing. (For an email alert, this means the number of times the alert can fail to be acknowledged before it is escalated, if so configured.) |
Minutes between retries |
Type the number of minutes between retries. NOTE: The system will calculate an "escalation period" based on the number of retries and the minutes between retries. |
Enabled |
Select to enable this alert. |
Escalation level |
Type the number of levels up in the group hierarchy to escalate this alert. |
Notify system |
Select to notify the system when the alert is acknowledged by a user. |
Effective date |
Type the date on which the alert will become effective, or select it from the popup calendar. |
Expiration date |
Type the date on which the alert will expire, or select it from the popup calendar. |
Email Information tab
This tab applies only to email alerts.
NOTE: You can set any or all of the fields to be used as defaults for all new email alerts. For instance, you may want to use the same or a very similar message body for all the email alerts you set up.
From address |
Type the From email address (up to 80 characters). |
Reply-to address |
Type the Reply-to email address (up to 80 characters). |
Subject |
Type the subject of the email address (up to 80 characters). |
Message body |
Type the message (up to 1024 characters). You can include tags for variables in the message body. To use a tag, type its name framed by square brackets. The system will replace the tags with the associated data when it processes the alert. |
