Locking a defined configuration
All tasks for managing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) are accomplished with the CMDB Editor. To open the editor, locate the System Configuration tasks on the Action pane’s Configuration panel and click Launch CMDB Editor.
NOTE: After adding defined configurations, you can run the Defined Configuration Report to have a listing of them for reference. For information on running reports, see the Reports book.
On the CMDB Editor, click Add

above the Defined Configurations list. This adds a new configuration (temporarily
 named New Configuration n) to
the database. Notice that the configuration's hierarchy has been started
in the hierarchy panel. In the hierarchy, select New
Configuration n to reveal fields on the Properties panel. Complete
 the fields (see Fields
for configuring a defined configuration's profile). Finally, save
the new configuration by clicking Save
 above the hierarchy.
You can now add configuration types to the defined configuration (see Working with configuration types) and associate device types with it (see Associating device types with defined configurations).
Editing a defined configuration
NOTE: You can edit a defined configuration only if it is not locked.
On the CMDB Editor, select on the
Defined Configurations list the defined configuration you want to edit.
The hierarchy shows the configuration and its configuration types. Select
the defined configuration in the hierarchy to reveal its fields on the
Properties panel. The only part of the configuration's profile that you
can edit is its description. Change the description as needed, and click
 Save
 above the hierarchy.
If you need to edit any of the configuration types associated with the configuration, see Working with configuration types.
Deleting a defined configuration
You can delete any defined configuration, either unlocked or locked. For example, over time there may be locked defined configurations that are no longer needed.
On the CMDB Editor, select on the
Defined Configurations list the defined configuration you want to delete.
 Click Delete
 above the list.
Locking a defined configuration
When you are satisfied with a defined configuration and ready to deploy ("publish") it, you should lock it in the database. Thereafter, it cannot be edited (although it can be deleted). Once locked, it cannot be unlocked.
NOTE: Locking a defined configuration also locks its associated configuration types.
From the main Questra IDM Application Suite window (that is, from outside of the CMDB Editor), you can quickly search for configurations. This feature is useful, for example, when you want to find configurations associated with a specific device type.
On the Navigation pane of the main window, click Search

above the Groups panel to open the Search dialog. Select Configuration
for Search for. Complete the desired fields. For a wildcard to represent
any string or character, use *. Click Search to conduct the search.
NOTE: The Configuration search feature is currently for informational purposes only.
