Search for words contained anywhere in the online Help

Use the text box on the Search pane or the Search box in the Help window's toolbar. Type the word or phrase you want to find. After typing the query expression, press Enter or click the Go Search button . The list of topics containing the found word or phrase is displayed. Select a topic from the list to view the topic.

  • Boolean expressions – With Boolean operators (such as AND, OR, and NOT), you can further refine your searches.

  • Nested expressions – You can create complex searches using nested expressions in combination with Boolean expressions. For example, "device AND ((type OR group) NEAR unregister)" finds topics containing the word "device" along with the words "type" and "unregister" close together, or containing "device" along with the words "group" and "unregister" close together. You can create nested expressions up to five levels deep.

  • Wildcards – Not supported.

The Search feature evaluates the expressions in parentheses before the rest of the query expression. If the query expression doesn't contain a nested expression, the Search feature evaluates from left to right.
